What is NYCHA Footprints?
NYCHA footprints is a piece of visual research studying the architectural footprints of
ten housing projects of the New York City Housing Authority. The piece consists of
ten developments chosen for their aesthetic interest and variation in style, built
to painstaking levels of accuracy at a 1:1 scale in 3D Studio Max by piecing
together information from various sources.
The result is a visual curiosity of geometry, form, function, space and design. I
deliberately kept these models white and detail-free so that the finished plates
remained ambiguous, betraying as little as possible of the origins of the
intriguing forms being presented.
