Concepts
This section contains examples of light
conceptual work exploring the Modernist housing type
working towards the design and realisation of a
futuristic dystopian super-city.
Influence came from a variety of sources, including
genuine architecture that only ever existed at the
conceptual stage, as in the case of Glass SoHo: an inner
city council estate planned for London in the 1950s but
never built; the Ballard novel High Rise; the social
housing schemes of Jamaica and a what-if theme of
NYCHA projects taken to a sprawling gargantuan extreme.
